April 9, 2010 - Harry Sulley Ski Tours Winds Up After 33 Years of Operation
My personal thanks to all those who attended our very last Ski Tour which was held in the beautiful little village of Moena in the Dolomitis of Northern Italy. It was such a treat to see those people we've skied with in past years, especially my friend, John Greene of Boston who is still skiing at, are you ready? 80 years of age!!.
We have experienced some fabulous skiing at many of the top ski resorts in the world and have many, many fond memories both in our minds and in our picture gallery. It's very difficult to leave knowing that some of the people who joined us in Moena actually grew up on our tours- Of course I’m speaking about Sonja & Anik Webb from Ottawa, Andrea and Max Turner from Kentucky, and even little Drew Spinks from Chicago who was only four when his parents, Andrew & Lisa took him to Les Arcs, France which he still remembers !! Many of these kids celebrated birthdays and other milestones with us.
I think, one of the proudest moments of Harry Sulley Ski Tours, was the years we operated our 'Christmas in the Mountains' tours in the Tyrol mountains of Austria where, through the sponsorship of Alessandro Vadagnini and the Falkensteiner Hotel group, we were able to outfit every single person who attended with a brand new pair of skis and bindings as a Christmas present, for three consecutive years.. We actually distributed over 7,000 pairs of skis, some of which made their way to Charitable groups back home. Those were the days my friend!! I invite you to peruse the pictures in the archives of this webpage and see yourself grow up through those fabulous years.
So, for all those who have skied with us in the past, at places like Thyon2000 Switzerland- 1977, Snowbird, Park City, Utahhhhh 1978-79, the many skifaris in the 80s at Steamboat Springs, and Aspen, CO.,or Torgon, Switzerland in 1981, Zermatt in '82 to ski the mighty Matterhorn, Verbier/ Mont Fort, Switzerland in '83 (first tour my daughter Jennifer attended), Anzere, Crans Montana, Switzerland '84, The many years at Les Arcs, France from 1985, over to Cortina D'Ampezzo in the Sella Ronda, Itlay in '86, the frequent trips out to Whistler when Whistler and Blackcomb were separate entities; Bormio, Italy in '87; St. Moritz, Switzerland, and the many trips to Banff/Lake Louise in the 80s, 90s and 2000s; who could forget Innsbruck in '89 or the Sierra Nevada, Spain in the 90s, Lake Placid (where Sonny & Nikki got their start; Zell am See, Austria in '92; Les Collons, Switzerland 1995; Courmayeur/Chamonix 1997; the many weekends at Smugglers' Notch, Vermont in the 90s (I'm sure you remember that brutal snow storm that moved in over Lake Champlain and stranded us for a couple of extra days (who cared?); and how about the Flamenco dancing in the Gypsy caves of Sacramonte after a hard day of skiing the Sierre Nevadas in Spain 2002 or our first adventure- ski at Andorra’s 'Pas de la Casa/ Grau Roig'; Remember those fabulous summer ski weekends at George & Elaine's in Manotick or Newfoundland, at my cousin Joe Antle's cottage!! Oh, the memories!! Ya gotta love 'em.. Thank you, every single one of you, my friends- Merci, Gracias, Grazie and baci to all.
JUST A FOOTNOTE:
THE 'AIRLINESTRAVELCLUB' WILL STILL CONTINUE WITH OUR REGULAR TOURS TO TUSCANY AND CHINA, SO KEEP WATCHING FOR THAT. SONNY IS BACK ON OUR 'CREW' NOW AND WE JUST COMPLETED AN INSPECTION TOUR OF OUR NEW FACILITY IN TUSCANY, THE FABULOUS PARK HOTEL 'Colle Degli Angeli' SPA & RESORT. WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE!!! WHAT A RUN???
