Tuscany 2005
Think of a 12th century castle surrounded by graceful, rolling hills, vineyards laden with luscious grapes, olive trees, stately cypress trees and breathtaking sunsets. This was the setting for our very first Wine/Culture tour, Tuscany I, September, 2005 at the Castel Porrona. Add to this a sampling of the Italian passion for dining including a delightful Tuscany specialty of wild boar – all prepared in the traditional manner. . For sure!!
Only ˝ hour from Castel Porrona nestles the gorgeous Montalcino area - home of the world famous ‘Brunnello’ wines which rests in the vats for four full years before bottling. We shop in the tourist meccas of Siena and Pienza and bask in sun of the beautiful mile-long beaches of ‘Castiglione della Pescaia’, a forty-five minute drive from the Castle. On the Island of Elba, just off the coast, we drank in the scenery, lay on the beach and sampled the fresh seafood. After our holiday we said “arrivaderci” to one of the nicest groups ever assembled by the airlinestravelclub. - twenty-four new friends and many old ones. Romantic? You bet… and soooo much more!!
