Moena, Italy 2006
Our destination for the Ski Tour in March 2006 was Moena, Italy - a place with which most of us are quite familiar. We've returned here many times in the past and skied the 3-valli area ( Lusia, Passo San Pellegrino and Valle di Fassa). Most of us were too exhausted this time to ski the mighty 'Sella Ronda', available only with the purchase of the Dolomiti Superski Pass. A word of caution- with 1160 kms of every type of terrain taking you all the way to Cortina d'Ampezzo, Kronplatz, Alta Badia and Val Gardena to name just a few - you must have a guide to ski this area! Again this year our little village didn't disappoint, giving us an abundance of sunshine and loads of snow as well as après-ski parties and Karaoke nights. Harry, Pam and John Watts were a big hit with their rendition of Sinatra, while Chris Blakeney arranged a very enjoyable 'Nuevo Flamenco' night at one of Moena's many disco/bars. Speaking of Chris, and Lesley (Smith)- this was their first time actually running the whole ski week. During dinner they did an awesome job of reviewing the day (including awarding the 'Ding-a-ling') and informing the group of the upcoming weeks' activities. As most of you already know, they will be hosting their first Ski week during the month of March 2007. You will be advised of the dates etc. very soon. Kudos to Lindy Watts who took her first ski lesson at the Moena ski school and was skiing with the group by week's end. -" you can't fly with the eagles unless you leave the flock- eh Lindy"!!
